THE SONGWRITING DEPARTMENT

Good songwriters are rare. This is because it demands a combination of contradictory skills. Ruthless economy of vision balanced by a history of doomed relationships, offset by the desire to steal ideas from other, more gifted songwriters who might have more original ideas.

No two of our songs are the same. This is because our song writing technique is based on an innovative type of process that we call creativity.

Let us now show you how the songs are conducted in two easy steps.

Step 1: Focus on a moment in time – The group gazes with sadness at the spot on the railway platform where she said goodbye. It is from this activity that a concise statement is drawn ie. I stood on the platform looking at the train that had just left for Bristol.

Step 2: Apply song writing skills – When advanced through the new creative process we call ‘song writing’ this moment can transform magically to become an intrusive, memorable and emotionally enriching song ie I stood on the platform in the rain, watching her leave on the Bristol train.

THE PLANNING DEPARTMENT

The Planning, Research and Information Department at JSH Records does not have a rigid philosophy nor a fixed set of procedures.

The Department works by simply coming up with a new idea for a song that no one has thought of before. Sometimes we gather groups of young people together and ask t hem to do it for us.

We believe that young people must have their say about the records we release. Mostly we chose to ignore their opinions, but it’s equally true that they must always be listened to.

Our skill lies in the analysis, judgement and insight we can bring to bear on that data – our team has many years of experience in a diverse range of previous employment ranging from photocopier repairs through to grave digging.

Once a plan is formulated we gather in the boardroom to pen up a packet of custard creams. This critical part of the process is called teatime.

Various biscuits are tasted and then everyone goes home. It’s a time consuming and dangerous job and not for the faint hearted.
